Love the toon,incisive view of conservative and/or red-neck political pathology:super patriots love to induce fear.These patients(super patriots/supports)are in need of an injection of reason to re-enter reality.Most baby boomers are easily paniced,just touch their pocket book or jiggle or poke their emotional core.Political stupidity a beast that runs while in American politics; hopefuly we are able to cage the beast.Mr.Deeds,thanks for your help by shining light on the beast.

I love how the sides in the healthcare discussion paint their respective positions as either black or white -- or right or wrong. Life is neither... it's mostly grey, very grey. Until we rid the healthcare discussion of the partisan and ideology zealots, we will continue to live with a dysfunctional system that works well for some and fails for others.

Do you remember Bush protesters being kicked out of his gatherings because they wore Anti-Bush T-shirts, you know, the kind that mimic no left turn street signs? But it is okay for the right wing fanatics to carry Obama as Hitler signs and Ak-47s. Hmmm.

Some people might also feel that the majority of government run programs are full of waste and are bankrupting the country.
Saying all people that oppose a gigantic new government entitlement program are marching around with swastika signs and are dumb red-necks is the same as saying all liberals support spitting on troops returning home from war.
Try not to be so partisan, it detracts from your arguments. All you're doing is selling your hate for those with an opposing point of view. Try to sell the issue.

It's true that Lyndon LaRouche whack jobs have been involved. So have Republicans organized by Dick Armey and other paid lobbyists for the health insurance and pharmaceutical industry. Moreover LaRouch is a nut job, but not exactly a left wing nutjob.
The Left is really blinded to reality. Not everyone that is conservative out there is a "rightwing nut-job birthist"-actually very few are. The right has some very fundamental questions that the President fails to address. And the more he ignores these questions the more ticked we get. It isn't like we are bashing out windows of coffee shops over free trade cofee (left wingers) we have questions that no one can answer on healthcare...like how do we pay for it? How does it work? What does it cover? No one can give a straight answer to that..plus after this we have to fix social security..can you imagine the debt we will be in after we instill a whole nother government institution than have to bail out social security just as a band-aid to figure out how to really fix it. I have been under the control of the governments efficient machine in the military, and I still attend VA hospital. My insurance is tricare prime through the military. Believe me you do not want government anywhere close to your health care!

Nobody said that "everyone that is conservaitve out there is a 'right-wing nut-job." Unfortunately, true and rational conservatives are an endangered species or at least their voices are being drowned out by the nut-jobs. There are nut-jobs in both parties, but many more are right-wingers in my estimation--gun nuts, religious nuts, birthers, conspiracy theorists about various subjects from 9-11 to Kennedy's assassination, and so forth.
You say you're getting VA hospital care, but that "you don't want government anywhere close to your health care." Why is that? I've read that VA health care is quite good. I wish I were eligible for it.
How would you "fix" Social Security? My suspicion is that, like Bush, you would fix it like "fixing" a dog or cat! All it needs is a few tweaks to put it on a sound footing for the foreseeable future. The rumors about it's demise are unfounded. The income cap should be dropped or raised and indexed. Why should somebody making $20,000 or $100,000 pay 7% and somebody making $1 million pay .7%? Paying for Medicare is a real issue, not so easily solved.

Well let me put it this way, I have two bulging disks in my back that occured on active from a bad jump (airborne) It took me a year to get the MRI'S to confirm the injuries, it took six months to get the nerve tests to determine why my left leg is numb, within the year I have an appointment with a neuro surgeon.So that is two years I have lived in excrutiating pain with an injury that I got while serving my country, and a numb left leg and the VA has prescribed me the equivalent of Alieve to deal with it until they can figure it out. None of the departments communicate, the Mental health clinic does not even have communications with the ptsd clinic so two doctors try to prescribe two different medications for the very same problem and have no way to see what other medications you are even on. That is probably why I see the WW11 vets drooling on themselves at the local VA Homes. Unless you are smart enough to ask the questions about your medication you may end up with a dissarrayed concoction.
I haven't studyied how to fix social security. I have lost about all faith in governemnt programs. The entire diplomatic process is not designed for a large government that can micro-manage many entities. They can barely manage the programs they have and most are the most inefficient institutions in the World. There is too much bearocracy and red-tape in place that inhibits the government to act quick enough for the ever changing World.We are designed to have "checks and balances" and when that system was implemented the government was small and only made very large decisions. Now the government is large and they govern over the most micro of decisions. It isn't designed to handle these problems we need to scale back government interference. The whole housing market dibaco started with governmentt interference into a very important market to our economy, and by the time they could see the results and could change it the results had already happened.And no that wasn't Bush, Clinton dug the whole that became the housing market crisis.

We could privatize the money and let someone with the initiative to make money on our investment handle it and they would have the time to adjust to economic tides and changes. You have my sympathy for your injury and the failure of the VA to provide proper treatment. That should not happen to anyone, especially veterans.

I teach high school, and there have been seeds of mass hysteria sown into our students about Obama's speech. Even our security guards are getting ready. Parents aren't allowing their children to watch his speech...one student even said, "I HEARD THAT OBAMA IS GOING TO MAKE ALL THE CHILDREN WRITE LETTERS PRAISING HIM." WTF?!????!!!!!!

catwoman89, I'll admit that this is probably more of a right scare-"protest"-tactic than it is a legitimate threat, when the left admits that Obama's rhetoric and arrogance towards this bill governing health care is unnacceptable. His quotes as of late sounds like the trash talk one would pull off of ESPN from Afirican-American atheletes rather than the President of the United States. Even Bush--as horrible as he was-kept his cowboy under more cool than Obaba is keeping his slang and attitude in check.
I haven't noticed any arrogance on Obama's part. The arrogance is on the part of nearly all the Republicans who have not been willing to enter into serious discussions on health care reform. Besides, Obama doesn't have a health care bill so far. He has encouraged the House and the Senate to come up with bills in accordance with some general principals. With regard to his speeches, Obama is one of the most articulate presidents in memory. There is no comparison with Bush who could hardly combine a noun and a verb to make a complete sentence. And he affected a "down home good ole boy" Texas manner of speaking, leaving his blue blood, East Coast, Ivy League roots behind him.

I have no regrets for supporting Obama. He has accomplished much that he promised (health reform, removing combat troops from Iraq, banking and finance reform, nuclear disarmament treaty signed) but much remains to be done, especially reviving the economy and creating jobs. He has been handicapped by the Party of NO! and a couple of Blue Dog Democrats who forced compromises in the health reform bill and economic stimulus measures. Republicans criticize President Obama but offer little or nothing to solve the country's problems. Seems to me it doesn't make sense for the Republicans to vote on party lines on every Obama proposal and then criticize him for not keeping his promises.
