Iridescent Pigeon

Did you know that there are 28 varieties of pigeons? Here's a beautiful iridescent one that I spotted driving in our neighborhood today. At first I thought the bird was a dove, but when I got closer I decided it was a pigeon. I stopped the car, grabbed my camera and walked slowly back toward the bird which was sitting betweent the sidewalk and the street. He watched me approach and didn't begin to walk away until I got fairly close. He began to walk away as I came closer, clicking away, and he finally flew away to the roof of the house next door.
