George Condo New York to Paris and Back

Pop surrealist painter and sculptor George Condo has been back from Paris for nearly ten years and just opened his first show since returning at The New Museum. Reports are that the show is sensational.

Condo was born in New Hampshire in 1957, studied art and musical theory at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and appeared on the East Village art scene in 1980 where he quickly achieved recognition for his imaginative surrealist paintings of people with small heads and other distorted features showing influence by Picasso. His dark but humorous paintings take inspiration from American caricature, European history portraits and Greek mythological figures.
